Langwith Whaley Thorns Heritage Centre

Our Mission...

The mission of the Heritage Centre is to engage with the people of Langwith & Whaley Thorns, enabling them to establish their place within history and define their current identity. Through interaction with their heritage and associated positive learning experiences, we can inspire people to explore their role within society, value their community and raise their individual aspirations.

Additionally, we act as advocates for Langwith & Whaley Thorns. We endeavour to raise awareness of the social heritage of the locale and its bearing on the histories of others, within the United Kingdom and beyond.

We will support this mission and further our ambassadorial role by:

Managing our collections using established professional standards

Adhering to recognised international codes of museum ethics

Securing public access to our collection by means of exhibitions, activities and other modes of interaction

Using our collections and staff knowledge to contribute to education and research both within the local community and academia

Raising our public profile and establishing ourselves as a reliable source of information on local heritage

Establishing partnerships with compatible individuals and organisations

Treating everyone associated with the Heritage Centre, either through work or as a visitor, with respect and equality.
